“Some Rooms Just Won’t Cool. What Gives?”

Our community is made up of homes. Those homes are made up of rooms. And our rooms are probably large enough to be made up of sections. There’s a lot of air that needs to be cooled on those scorching hot summer days, and it’s important to know about any problems you might be experiencing.

If you’ve got a room that’s constantly hot, or that’s just not cooling to the temperature you set on the thermostat, there could be a few things going on. These problems with your air conditioning in Sarasota, FL could be directly related to the temperature you’re setting on your thermostat, or to the condition of your AC system, or even to the condition of your ductwork.

Unfortunately, unless you call our team for help we won’t be able to give you an answer that’s 100% certain. But perhaps today we can steer you in the right direction. Let’s talk about some reasons why a specific room might not be cooled to your standards.

Duct Problems

Your air ducts are the highways that connect your air conditioner to the vents in your rooms. Just like a normal highway, if there are any gaps, tears, or leaks, then you’re going to have a lot of that cooled air escaping into parts of your home where you won’t be able to feel it. This is a very bad thing.

It’s important that you at least know the condition of your air ducts. If they’re relatively new, or they’ve been replaced recently, then you might only need some duct sealing or small, targeted duct repairs that can be performed by our team.

Or, if you’re in the dark about the condition that your air ducts are in, it could be very likely that you need whole air duct system replacement services. Don’t worry, we can do that too. Just call us.

Poor Thermostat Control

Did you know that your thermostat can only cool your home about 20 degrees lower than the temperature outside? That’s right, when it’s 90 degrees outside, your home can’t realistically be cooled any lower than 70 degrees. This is important to know when you’re setting your thermostat because some temperature settings might be unrealistic or straight up impossible.

If you’ve got an area of your home with bright lighting and a lot of access to sunlight, that room might have trouble reaching the desired temperature on the thermostat. Make sure you set the temperature reading to a reasonable amount (between 15 and 20 degrees below the outdoor temperature) and utilize curtains and blinds to help stop sunlight to improve cooling power.

Maintenance, Maintenance, and More Maintenance!

Your AC can’t be expected to keep every home in your house cool for an affordable price without maintenance. This is just a simple rule of HVAC care. Don’t worry, it doesn’t matter if you skipped it last year for a good reason, let us help you get back on track by scheduling a maintenance appointment today.
