Get Your AC Ready for Summer with These Three Tips

We use our air conditioners a lot here in Sarasota, but one thing is for sure that it’s always a nerve-wracking moment when we start them up for the first time this year. So, in the hopes that homeowners call us in the event that their AC system has trouble functioning when it’s first turned on, we’ve got three unique tips for preparing your AC for the next summer.

We’ve been talking a lot about heaters in the past few months to get our customers through winter, but now as our hot and muggy Florida summer is quickly approaching, it’s time to take care of the systems that matter the most—our air conditioners.

Thankfully, we’re here to provide some tips that can help get your cooling system up and running successfully, including scheduling AC maintenance in Sarasota, FL with the team here!

Better Care, Better Cooling

It’s a proven fact that when we pay closer attention to our air conditioners, we improve their cooling power, efficiency, and extend the lifespan of the system. That’s because vigilance can be the first line of defense against a faulty AC that’s starting to show problems. So, let’s talk about what we can do to make the process of taking these systems out of hibernation a little bit easier.

Change the Air Filter

The first and most important thing you can do for your air conditioner when you take it out of hibernation is to clean or replace the air filter. While this isn’t necessarily for the improvement of your indoor air quality, it sure will help!

The air filter in your HVAC system is mainly to prevent dust, debris, and other particles from entering your air conditioner’s more sensitive interior components, like the compressor, while still allowing it to have a fresh intake of air. Homeowners often forget to change the air filter in their air conditioners when they turn their systems off for the year, so when getting ready to use it the next year, it’s always a good idea to change your air filter. Give yourself a fresh start and clean or replace your system’s air filter today!

Clean Around the System

Your AC’s outdoor cabinet has seen a lot in the past few months. From nasty rainstorms to hurricane-force winds, your AC has been hit pretty hard with winter weather effects. That’s why it’s important to do a thorough cleaning of your outdoor AC cabinet as well as a quick brush around the system as well. By cleaning your system, you ensure that no dust, dirt, pebbles, sticks, or critters will stifle your system’s airways and cause it to overheat or run less efficiently. Trust us, a clean air conditioner always runs better than one that’s been constantly trampled over by the elements with no respite.

Schedule Maintenance

The last and easiest thing you can do for your air conditioner this year is to schedule routine maintenance. Before temperatures become scorching and humidity makes us feel sticky and uncomfortable, call one of our professionals to perform a quick examination of your AC system. We can give you the green light if it’s ready to deal with another summer, or if there’s some repair that will be in your near future.
