Keep Your Furnace Efficient, Replace Your Filter!

Usually, when we write about furnace filters, there are two kinds of people we’re writing to. The first is the slightly annoyed furnace owners in our area that exclaim “oh no, I totally forgot to replace the filter,” and they close out the tab.

The second kind of customer that we’d like to reach when we talk about furnace filters are the people who say, “What? My furnace has a filter?”

So, for all you homeowners out there that didn’t even know your furnace had a filter to be replaced, there’s no need to feel guilty. A lot of amateur HVAC technicians don’t even tell their customers about the filter and this is one of those things that separates our team from the rest. We’re invested in the life of your heater, while we help you avoid heating repair in Sarasota, FL for as long as possible.

So, let’s start with step one!

Extend Your Heater’s Lifespan

Before you panic, if your furnace is still working without you having cleaned its air filter then you’re probably fine. The biggest reason we want homeowners to get into the habit of replacing their air filters is that it extends the lifespan of your furnace drastically. And, depending on your home, it should be replaced every 1-3 months.

A furnace that hasn’t had its air filter replaced is going to have to work harder to pull in fresh air to heat. That means your system will start stressing out certain components, which can ultimately lead straight into a breakdown. Avoid the nightmare scenario and keep your system healthy for as long as possible.

Lower Your Heating Bill

When your furnace is being stifled by a dirty air filter, it requires more fuel to complete the heating process. That means your furnace is going to work harder just to do the same job you’re used to it doing.

If you’re okay with sky-high heating bills then, by all means, ignore your furnace. However, for everyone else out there, replacing your filter will definitely keep your heating bill from rising too high.

Keeping Your Home Clean

While an air filter that’s supposed to take care of your furnace isn’t exactly made for your personal hygiene, it absolutely helps! A clogged filter is going to lead to stuffy air that’s full of dust and debris. If you’d like a cost-effective way of improving your indoor air quality, replace your air filter and keep both you and your furnace happy!

Enjoy Peace of Mind

Let’s be honest, the biggest reason we’re telling homeowners about replacing their filter is that we see issues all the time that could have been made worse by a dirty filter. It doesn’t feel good when you honestly want to help a homeowner out, only to find out that they’re going to need a furnace replacement because their filter has never been cleaned.

If you need help locating your air filter or doing the act of replacing your air filter, you can always give our team a call!
